Destination: Ileia, Peloponnese
Purpose: Prayer Letter #2
Last Saturday, HM staff gathered together to spend the night in prayer. We traveled between our various homes spending time in fellowship and praying over Athens, the Greek nation, Operation Joshua and this summer’s events. Among the many prayers, two people asked the Lord to capture Greece’s attention in any way possible. Later on during the day, at 3:25 PM a major earthquake hit Greece. It was 6.5 on the Richter scale with several aftershocks including one measuring 4.7. This is the most destructive earthquake to hit Greece in the last 10 years. Two people were killed and 230 injured with mostly broken limbs, as people were jumping off balconies and out of windows. It destroyed several houses and dozens of buildings. The quake was felt all over Greece and parts of southern Italy. The epicenter was near the town of Andravida, which is approximately 200 km from Athens. Incidentally this is right within Operation Joshua’s targeted area for this summer and only 20 km away from the campsite where we will be staying. Coupled with the fires last summer, it seems like the Lord is trying to get the attention of Ileia’s population. We know the Lord has plans for these hurting people who have been touched by so much calamity. Please continue to pray for the men, women and families that we will encounter as we bring God’s Word to their doorsteps.
Please join us in prayer as we need to make a 40.000€ down payment for the New Testaments by the end of June.
